The year started with two big oak desks.
The first was 2.2 m long. The end customer had requested that the top be made from oak with all of the defects, such as knots and splits, retained and with a rough finish. Normally customers want a defect-free and smooth surface so it was quite refreshing to have someone that was happy to enjoy the oak in all its natural defective glory. I made the drawers from solid oak and with wooden runners to continue the rustic theme.
The second desk was slightly smaller, and also had a lovely natural oak top. Five drawers were suspended within a solid oak frame, and each drawer had a solid oak front with the left and right drawers being continuous matched pieces.
