It’s great when a customer likes their first piece of furniture so much that they ask me to make another so that they have a matching pair. This bedside cabinet has been made to match the “Chaffinch” Bedside Cabinet that I made last year. The timber is my Scottish olive ash and the drawers, sliding tray and walnut details are the same.
Although the timber is the same, the grain is a little straighter overall and also the top has the beginnings of some spalting. This shows as some darker streaking and also more porosity meaning that the top has adsorbed more of the white pigmentation of the finish. There’s certainly no doubting that they are a pair.
