Descending from Ben Vorlich the other day, a wee flock of small birds flew over my head twittering away to themselves. Not knowing what they were, I whipped out the Merlin app and it told me they were Redpolls – a small finch. Perfect, I thought. And that’s the name I have given to my new coffee table (inspired by the design my creepie stools).
My customer had seen my Bench Creepie on display in the Perthshire Gallery. The bench, however, was not deep enough to be used as a coffee table. So she asked for something to be created to her own dimensions and which would use the same combination of timbers and similar design features. Having previously seen that my creepie design could be scaled up to a bench, I was confident that the design would also scale to a coffee table. This is the result.
The top is made from stunning olive ash that is flanked on either side by beech. Olive ash wings hold the gently splayed legs with housing joints and they are further secured with birch pegs. The legs are ash centres with beech on either side. Who says that beech is boring? Delivered to Perthshire last week – to a lovely new home.
