This is not another creepie!! (But I have still given it the number 17 because it is in my creepie-style). I’ve had a piece of olive ash lying around for a few years which had some amazing grain patterns with quilting and ripples. I’ve even moved workshop with this piece of wood. Normally it would be destined for the top of a creepie but it had a long twisting split in the middle – and the pieces either side of the split would be too short to make a creepie. Anyway, it was quite long, and for a while I have been wondering whether my creepie design would translate into something larger. And it does! This is the result – a bench creepie made from olive ash with beech edging. This would make a cosy two seater bench: length 91 cm, height 42 cm, depth 34 cm. I have also included a photo with a normal creepie sitting on top – just to show its relative size and convince you that this really is a bench. I don’t normally make speculative pieces – so this one is available for sale now. Please get in touch if you are interested.

The beech in the top was used to bridge and stabilise the split in the central piece of ash. The beech actually shows some nice waves – you can just about make out the big ripples in the photos. Beech was also used in the legs and frames the central pieces of ash to match the top. If I had space I would keep this bench for myself.

There was also a big void due to a knot at one end of the ash which I fixed with a patch. You can see it in the close-up with the deep brown coloured wood.
